The Experience
Commissioning a charcoal portrait is a refined and intentional experience — one guided with care, discretion, and artistic devotion from our first conversation to the final delivery of the artwork.
Each portrait is created as a one-of-a-kind heirloom, honoring not only likeness, but presence, emotion, and memory.
A Considered Process:
The commission process is designed to feel calm, personal, and seamless, allowing you to trust the work as it unfolds.
Phase I — Private Inquiry & Consultation
Inquiry
All commissions begin with a private inquiry submitted through the website.
Consultation
A brief phone or video consultation is scheduled to discuss your child, your vision, scale, timeline, and the overall scope of the portrait. This conversation ensures clarity and alignment before moving forward.
Phase II — Confirmation & Creation
Confirmation
Reference images are collected and final details are confirmed.
A commission agreement and invoice are issued. A 50% retainer secures placement within the studio schedule.
Creation
The portrait is developed over approximately 4–6 weeks.
The work is created slowly and attentively, with select progress updates shared at meaningful milestones.
Phase III — Completion & Delivery
Completion
Final payment is settled upon completion of the artwork.
Professional framing is then finalized, typically within 2-4 weeks.
Delivery
The finished piece is professionally framed, insured, and delivered to you, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
Selectivity & Availability
Commissions are accepted on a limited and selective basis to preserve the intimacy, quality, and care devoted to each portrait.
If you feel drawn to this work, you are warmly invited to inquire.
