The Experience

Commissioning a charcoal portrait is a deeply personal experience, thoughtfully guided from our first conversation through the creation and final delivery of your artwork.

Each portrait is drawn entirely by hand and created as a one-of-a-kind heirloom - a celebration of the people we love and the moments we want to hold onto. More than a likeness, each piece is created to preserve presence, emotion, and memory for generations to come.

A Thoughtfully guided process

The commission process is designed to feel personal, calm, and seamless, allowing you to enjoy the experience while your portrait comes to life.

Phase I — Private Inquiry & Consultation

Inquiry

Every portrait begins with a conversation. You’re warmly invited to submit an inquiry through the website or reach out by phone at (917) 390-0003, sharing a little about the portrait you have in mind. I’ll be in touch personally to learn more about your vision and answer any initial questions.

Consultation

A private phone or video consultation gives us the opportunity to discuss your vision for the portrait, the person or people being portrayed, preferred scale, and timing. Together, we’ll consider the details that will make the piece feel personal and meaningful to you.

Phase II — Confirmation & Creation

Confirmation

Once the details of your portrait are decided, we’ll select the reference images and finalize your commission. A 50% retainer reserves your place in the studio schedule, and your commission agreement and invoice are provided.

Creation

Your portrait is then carefully developed by hand over approximately 4-6 weeks. Throughout the process, I’ll share select progress updates at meaningful milestones, giving you a glimpse into the creation of your piece as it comes to life.

Phase III — Completion & Delivery

Completion

Once your portrait is complete, the remaining balance is due and your artwork is prepared for professional framing. Framing is typically completed within 2-4 weeks.

Delivery

Your finished portrait is professionally framed and carefully prepared for its journey to you. Each piece is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity, ready to take its place in your home and become part of your family’s story.

Selectivity & Availability

Because every portrait receives my personal attention from beginning to end, I accept a limited number of commissions at a time.

If you feel a connection to the work, I warmly invite you to inquire about creating a portrait for your family.

Each piece is created not simply to capture a moment, but to preserve something of it - a presence, a feeling, a chapter of your family’s story - for generations to come.
